Antique Identifier Privacy Policy
Thank you for using Antique Identifier (“the App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use the App. By accessing or using the App you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the App.
Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Antique photos: When you capture or upload an image, the photo is temporarily stored on your device and sent to our analysis service.
- Scan metadata: Each scan stores a generated identifier, timestamp, analysis results, and progress state.
- Feedback and chat messages: Any questions you ask our in-app assistant are sent to OpenAI along with relevant scan context.
Automatically collected information
- Device data: Basic device details (model, OS version) and app version may be collected through Expo to support in-app diagnostics.
- Usage logs: Crash reports and anonymized usage analytics may be generated by the Expo platform when necessary for debugging.
We do not collect personal identifiers such as name, email, or precise location unless you voluntarily provide them via support correspondence.
How We Use Information
- Antique evaluation: We send artifact images and related prompts to OpenAI’s API to generate historical insights.
- Feature delivery: Metadata is stored locally (AsyncStorage) so you can revisit previous scans and chat transcripts.
- Support and improvement: Aggregated analytics and crash logs help us maintain functionality and diagnose issues.
How We Share Information
- Service providers (OpenAI): Photos and prompts are transmitted to OpenAI for analysis. OpenAI processes data under its published API Terms. We do not sell or monetize your data.
- Error reporting: If a critical crash occurs, Expo’s tooling may transmit logs to their services in accordance with Expo’s privacy policy.
We do not otherwise disclose your information to third parties except when required by law or to protect our rights.
Data Storage and Retention
- Antique photos are kept on your device and in memory only long enough to submit for analysis. We do not maintain a server-side gallery.
- Scan history and generated analysis are stored locally on your device. You may clear your history at any time by deleting the App or using the “Clear History” option (if available) in settings.
- OpenAI retains submitted data for up to 30 days to monitor misuse; after that, they delete it unless required by law.
Your Choices
- Permissions: You can decline camera or photo library permissions. The App will continue to operate, but capture features will be disabled.
- Revoking access: You can revoke permissions via your device Settings at any time.
- Deleting data: Remove the App or clear history within the App to remove locally stored data.
Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use HTTPS for all network communication and rely on platform safeguards (iOS/Android sandboxing) to protect local storage. However, no system is completely secure. Please notify us promptly of any suspected breach.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be communicated inside the App or on our website before they take effect.
