Live Transcript (“the App”) is a speech-to-text app developed by Rowan Harmon. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App uses, how it is handled, and your choices. By using the App, you agree to this policy.
The App processes:
• Microphone audio when you use Live transcription.
• Audio or video files you choose to upload for transcription.
• Transcript text you create, edit, and save in History.
• Basic on-device preferences (for example, onboarding completion) stored locally.
We do not require you to create an account, and we do not operate a Live Transcript cloud account system.
Live transcription uses your device’s built-in speech recognition services (Apple on iOS, Google on Android).
Audio captured for live recognition may be processed by those platform providers according to their own privacy policies. On some devices or OS versions, speech audio may be sent to Apple or Google servers for recognition. We do not control that processing.

File uploads are transcribed on your device using an on-device Whisper model.
On first upload, the App may download a speech model file (approximately 150 MB) from Hugging Face so transcription can run locally afterward. That download requires a network connection. Uploaded media and the resulting transcript are processed on your device; we do not operate a server that receives your media for Whisper transcription.
Saved transcripts and related metadata (such as timestamps, source type, and optional file names) are stored locally on your device using on-device storage.
If you delete a transcript in the App, it is removed from local storage. Uninstalling the App typically deletes locally stored App data. We do not maintain a separate cloud copy of your transcripts.
Depending on features you use, the App may request:
• Microphone — to capture speech for live transcription.
• Speech recognition — to convert speech to text via platform APIs.
• Photo library / media access — so you can choose videos to transcribe.
You can deny or revoke permissions in system Settings. Some features will not work without the related permission.
The App does not include third-party advertising SDKs and does not use your transcripts for advertising. We do not sell your personal information.
The App is not designed to track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). Do not use the App to submit personal information from children where prohibited.
Transcripts remain on your device until you delete them or remove the App. You can delete individual transcripts in History. Clearing App data or uninstalling removes local App storage on most devices.
The App may interact with:
• Apple or Google speech recognition (live transcription).
• Hugging Face (one-time Whisper model download).
• Your device OS photo/document pickers when you select media.
Those services have their own terms and privacy policies.
Platform speech services and model downloads may involve processing in regions other than where you are located, depending on Apple, Google, or Hugging Face infrastructure.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Effective date” at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
